Mr. Mike put on a pair of tap shoes for the first time at 5 years of age at a small studio in Phoenix, AZ. He added jazz, ballet, and gymnastics to his studies and loved to perform them all. He graduated from the High School of Performing Arts which introduced modern dance into Mike's studies. After high school, Mike had the pleasure of working at the Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, CA performing the original broadway choreography to Barnum and 42nd St. Shortly after that, Mike landed a featured role in the national tour of Bye, Bye Birdie with Troy Donahue. At this point, his family had moved to Sacramento, CA, where Mr. Mike was hired by Salazar's dance studio, where he was trained in many styles of ballroom dance like salsa, swing, tango, samba, and waltz. He instructed there for over a year and competed at the International Grand Ball in San Fransisco, CA, receiving gold awards and taking 1st place as instructor of the year. At this point, he decided to follow the academic path, completing a Bachelor of Arts from California State University in Chico, CA in Musical Theatre followed by a Masters of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Central Florida, Orlando. Mike has performed at Seaside Music Theatre in Daytona Beach, FL in Jesus Christ Superstar, Singin' in the Rain, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, South Pacific, and Peter Pan. He has also performed with the Orlando Opera Company at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center and served as the Dance Captain for their production of The Pirates of Penzance. Recently, Mike has toured as the understudy to the Emcee in Cabaret and as Danny Kaye's role in White Christmas. He has taught jazz, tap, modern, acting, and movement studio at UCF as adjunct faculty, and has also taught at the University Performing Arts Center in Oviedo, FL.
